From the taxi ride passed acres of bulb fields to the little wooden fridge magnet clogs and cheesy tulip bottle openers (yes we bought both!) Keukenhof is every flower lovers nirvana.
Greeted by a stunning dandelion head fountain in the entrance area and ambient music from the vary large street organ playing its version of Beach Boys songs and the Macerana.
We were lucky enough to be at Keukenhof this year as one of my favourite Artist’s, Van Gogh, was being celebrated in flowers. Van Gogh has provided 125 years of inspiration since his death and Keunkenhof took the opportunity to honour him amongst their displays and exhibitions.
With approximately 7 million flower bulbs to see our camera certainly had a work out ! along with our legs over the 79 acres.
So so much to see, here are a few of our favourite highlights –
Other garden areas –
It was a bit much for some !
Up close and personal with some of the flora –
We were hoping to come away with a clear idea of which tulips and daffodils to grow next year but in reality came away wanting all of them and a bigger garden !
There was one gem though that we fell in love with and that will be on the top of the order list and that was a daffodil called Full Throttle – beautiful pure white petals with bright orange and yellow veined trumpets, complete with silvery green foliage.
Keukenhof comes highly recommended by us !
